All,

The idea has some obvious advantages, but along the way are many hurdles to be
overcome. Going forward into the future, I think it's a distinct possibility if
not some sort of inevitable outcome. It's a bit of a chore for our company to
be maintaining multiple web players, not only from an engineering stand-point
(we each must fix security issues, implement features, etc.) but from a
marketing standpoint (why one versus the other?). So I think that it's in our
best interest to keep a keen eye on all of our products going forward and look
to maximize the resources we have available, part of that, at least in my mind,
is a combined player with built-in extensibility.

But please remember this about my post: I'm talking to you as _me_, Tom Higgins
, Director user and fan, not as Tom Higgins, mouthpiece of Macromedia delivering
official commitments about the future. There are no guarantees and so who knows
what exactly what's in store for us, but from where I sit as a fan of these
technologies, with a view from the inside, a combined player at some point in
the future just seems smart on a number of levels, provided it's a well thought
out and planned process (how to engineer, how to market, how to ensure folks
stay with us, etc.). :)

Cheers,
Tom Higgins
