Shell scripting in OS X?

Shell scripting in OS X?

I would love the ability from Director to execute shell commands from a lingo
function (on OS X), and receive the results of the script from that function.

While I can think of all kinds of wonky ways to do it (sockets, FIFO/named
pipes, etc), nothing would beat having an Xtra to do it. And I think that the
OS X Director community (yes, it still exists ;) would benefit tremendously
from it.

Has anyone ever heard of such a thing, written any Xtras that can do it, etc?

Thanks,

Thom Brooks
