CEDIT 2004-10-28 - By Jordan Gerard
Back Hey all! This is my first mail to the list, so just let me say that I'm extremely impressed with how this is all going, and I've snooped through the archives, and am very pleased with everything I'm seeing :P
On to the question,
for some odd reason certain commands I add using cedit reset to a weird setting for the code: it doesn't happen for every entry I make, so I have no real idea why it works for some and not for others. In addition, when I edit the commands.dat manually, it combines whatever I put in with the entry immediately following it (running it's code, and showing 2 entries on a 'cedit <cmd> show') So, adding it to the bottom of commands.dat makes it not show at all (cedit <cmd> show) :P
well, after actually creating it using cedit (cedit <cmd> create) I shutdown the mud, and then manually edit the commands.dat, and voila it saves and loads up properly on reboot. However, this isn't a permanent solution, and hopefully one day if my mud gets hosting, I don't want to have to resort to such methods. I'm not sure if it's a problem with how cedit looks up the info, or how it saves it, but I have noticed one other thing, if its of any help.
Savid the cmdtable will work fine fore all other variables in commands, just not the code. IE: if I change the level of a command, save cmdtable, reboot, it's at the new setting. However if I edit the code, save cmdtable, reboot, it changes to something resembling (ear8dkcji) or whatnot.
I'd be very thankful for any help, and I hope this message finds you all having a good day :P
