I haven't read the review yet, and in fact, this is the first I had even heard of it being in Game Developer.
However, since I wrote the review of 8.5 for GD, I couldn't let the above comment go . . .
GD seems to do a good job of separating their product reviews from their ad sales. They asked me to do the review for 8.5 because I had just contacted them about mentioning Director in a different article. They had decided to review Director, but they never once gave me any "guidance" as for what rating I felt it should get.
I don't know where they found Justin Lloyd to write the review, but I would be EXTREMELY surprised if they chose him simply because he would not look at it favorably, or that they choose anyone else because of how they would rate a product.
Finally, NC I did notice the smileys, and I'm sure you were just joking around, but since to a certain extent it is my own reputation, I still needed to respond.
